Culbert Healthcare Solutions, a professional services firm serving healthcare organizations across the country, today announced that senior consultant Jill Berger-Fiffy has become a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE), the certification entity of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). Fellowship in ACMPE's industry-leading program demonstrates mastery and expertise in the profession of medical practice management. With this recognition, Berger-Fiffy is one of only 15 Fellows in the Massachusetts/Rhode Island MGMA chapter. The ACMPE fellowship underscores the expanding role of practice managers in healthcare today given the increased complexity and evolution of the industry.
To be considered for the fellowship, Berger-Fiffy first earned the Certified Medical Practice Executive (CPME) designation by passing rigorous essay and objective examinations that assess knowledge of the broad scope of medical practice management, as outlined in the Body of Knowledge for Medical Practice Management. This includes business operations, financial management, human resources management, information management, organizational governance, patient care systems, quality management and risk management. She also completed a minimum of 50 continuing education credit hours. In addition to these efforts, Berger-Fiffy also authored a paper titled "Shared Medical Appointments: A Timely Innovation?" which was reviewed by the ACMPE Professional Papers Committee and voted on by the ACMPE Certification Commission and the MGMA board of directors.
"I am honored to be recognized as a fellow by MGMA and look forward to leveraging my practice management expertise and experience to better serve the practices we work with," said Berger-Fiffy. "Due to the rise in new care delivery models, these organizations are recognizing the need for professional staff to take ownership of complex initiatives, and this fellowship will allow Culbert to bolster our partnerships with practices as they take on new challenges.
Berger-Fiffy has been involved with MGMA since 1993 and has held numerous officer positions with the Massachusetts/Rhode Island chapter, including president from 2013-2014. She has more than 20 years of experience in practice management and currently serves on the executive management team at Culbert, specializing in interim management and revenue cycle management services. Berger-Fiffy will be recognized for her fellowship achievement at the MGMA 2014 Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 26-29.
"We're proud to have Jill on our team and thrilled that she has achieved this fellowship, as it provides her increased leadership opportunities and an enhanced level of empowerment," said Rob Culbert, president and CEO at Culbert Healthcare Solutions. "This designation supports our organization's and our consultants' commitment to pursuing new learning opportunities and refining our skillsets so we can be better client advisors."
